AGM
Dear supporters,
Berkshire for Europe will be holding its annual general meeting and would like to invite you. Details are as follows:
Date: 16th January 2025, 19:00-21:00
Location: Room 3 at RISC, 35-39 London Street, Reading, RG1 4PS
We hope to be able to hold a hybrid meeting using Zoom or similar.
As you will be aware, 2024 has seen some significant changes on the political scene in the United Kingdom, many of which can be considered important when discussing the European question, and we have looked at how the local group should now be structured. We wanted to bring to your attention two of the motions which will be proposed and discussed at the AGM:
1 To adopt a model European Movement UK constitution – this brings the constitution in line with the other local groups. Under the previous constitution, only local members of Berkshire for Europe were allowed to vote at the local AGM. The EMUK model constitution allows EMUK paid-up members, plus local group members, to vote at the AGM. The draft of the constitution is shown here:

2 To adopt the name ‘European Movement in Berkshire’ as the name of the local group. The European Movement UK has agreed to allow the group to adopt this new name, which clarifies the objectives of the local group. Where appropriate, the group may continue to use the name ‘Berkshire for Europe’ at local events.
We believe these two changes will allow the local group to better serve the interest of the members and supporters of the European Movement and Young European Movement who are resident in or otherwise connected to parliamentary constituencies in the county of Berkshire.
The Agenda is currently being compiled and we will be able to hear from Peter Leisupe, our Branch’s representative on the European Movement UK council, regarding the changes at EMUK following their AGM in November.
It would be great to hear your comments and whether you would like to get more involved with the local group.
Details of the AGM will be published on our local group website and Facebook
